Our Projects
At Memphis Hack Club, we host weekly workshops and encourage our members to build on top of their individual workshops and create their unique version. Memphis Hack Club is a collection of talented student coders and engineers, and this page includes projects our members made in club and outside of club, on teams and individually.
Humble Beginnings
Humble Beginnings is an indie game made in the 2021 Memphis Hack Club. The theme for the game jam was outliers, so the objective of Humble Beginnings is to survive in a foriegn world. The main protagonist is an alien who crashed landed on Earth and disguised as a human. The player must stay alive by collecting gas cans and get points by collecting coins. The player must also avoid being hit by cars or plastic bags.
The Rabbit Hole Detector
The Rabbit Hole Detector is a Google Chrome extension developed during the Angel Hacks Hackathon by a team of Memphis Hackclubbers. It is designed to make Chrome users more productive with time by visually showing them their website usage with pie charts. The extension stops people from going down a rabbit hole on certain websites by kicking them off after a period of time. It comes with a predesignated list of sites, but users can also add their own.
Bestern Western
The Bestern Weastern is a Shooting gallery type game where you have to gun down crimales and spare the innocent. As the game progresses the timing gets faster and faster so you have to make split decisions to continue further. The Bestern Weastern challenges your reflexes and quick thinking to achieve a new high score, do you have what it takes?
Want To Help The Earth?
Philip Pounds, Wenchi Liu, Jackson Preisler, and Ben Fowler all collaborated to make Want To Help The Earth?, an app for people to arrange local clean ups in their area to clean up the environment. We believe the power of many small clean ups can have a big impact on preserving our world, and therefore wanted to make it easier to do.
Japanese Flashcards
Arielle made the Japanese Flashcards,which simply provides numerous tips and tricks to the Japanese language, and includes many flashcards to help study kanji, hiragana, katakana, vocabulary, verbs, phrases, and adjectives. It also has the option of creating customized flashcards. Also written in are tips and tricks, definitions for various categories, so that the learner always has a reference.
Zoom Bookmarks
Zoom Bookmarks is a Chrome extension developed by Blake and Philip to be used as a workshop in Memphis Hack Club. This extension worked so well, we decided to list it on the Chrome Store. The Zoom Bookmarks allows users to save meeting info for recurring zoom meetings. You can download Zoom Bookmarks on the Chrome Store
Hand Keyboard
The Hand Keyboard is a Machine Learning project by Blake that allows you to use hand gestures to control keyboard inputs. It uses Media Pipe, a library made by Google to track faces, objects, gestures, and much more. It’s a cool demo of the technology and can be expanded to track people to create a full body controller. Latinifier Plus
Latinifier is a Chrome extension made by Micah that speeds up study time for Latin students. It applies multiple different tweaks to Wiktionary that make translation and definition easier than ever before! You can download it on the Chrome Store.
NYX Game Engine
The NYX game engine is a high performance 3D game engine being developed by Jacob in C++ and OpenGL.

Wendy made Five Minutes of Calculus, to remind us of the importance of calculus.
Levels of Fear: Voidwalker
Alex is using Unreal engine to make his first indie game Levels of Fear: Voidwalker. Voidwalker tells story of the investigator, Jonathan Hunter after he awakes in a strange universe. Alex is still developing this game, but you can follow along on Voidwalker's Game Jolt Page
Car NLP Workshop
The Car NLP Workshop is a workshop created by Philip in iPython and HuggingFace as introduction to natural language processing machine learning. At the end of the workshop it shown how NLP could be reapplied, so that is why the picture has company values as answers.
Black Hole Falling
Philip made Blackhole Falling!, which is a an indie game about a young unit of light trying to esacpe a Blackhole
Swagger Cat Website
Lilly made the Swagger Cat, which is a story-blog website with an interactive story system. With new chapters every Friday, the story grows weekly. The story contains pop culture references, a swagger cat, and a wacky yet intense storyline.
FALL- OUT
Thacther developed the Roblox game FALL - OUT, which is a FPS game with over 2000 plays!
Minecraft Builds
Mason, Henson, and Sage collaberated to make Minecraft Builds, a website that features numerous pictures of minecraft builds. Whether you are just looking at some cool things people have made, or just looking for inspiration, go ahead and check it out.
Kind World
Lilly made Kind World, a website for kind people who are just trying to make the world into a kind world one step at a time.
Numerical Integration
Philip made an algorithm for numerical integration. This was adpated into a Memphis Hack Club workshop where Hack Clubber's the basics of algorithm design.
"Guarded" Website
"Guarded" is a website designed to condense the in-progress story written by Arielle. It is simple but effective in organizing all of the random thoughts and plots of the book, but is not yet finished. It contains several sections that give explanations on various subjects pertaining to the setting, including magic, characters, worlds, and snippets of writing. Enjoy!
Vulkan Particle Renderer
An in progress particle simulation written in Vulkan.
Pokemon Battle Simultor
Mason with help from Philip and Blake expanded on Memphis HackClub's workshop- introduction to object coding in python with Pokemon. Mason went about expanding the code to have it where the player can choose moves with their Pokemon and the opposing Pokemon would choose a move randomly to battle with the player.
Compliment Generator
Asher's compliment generator is a project that randomly selects a variety of words to put in a sentence that (kinda) sounds like a compliment.
Decayed
Decayed is an indie game made by John and Philip. It is a 2D exploration game featuring colorful pixel graphics and many unique challenges. Decayed will be launched on itch.io for PC in the near future.
DOMPong
Micah built DOMPong as a proof-of-concept that games can be built for the browser without using JavaScript canvas. It uses HTML div elements and CSS animations to make a basic Pong clone. Play here!
The Club Discord Bot
This is The Club Discord bot made by Philip in Node.js and has many built in commands! This is the Discord bot we use on the Memphis Hack Club Discord server.
Itchy
Itchy is a mobile app made by Micah and other open-source contributors. It lets users access the Scratch social coding platform on Android devices and still be productive.
3D Printer Filament
Philip created clear PETG 3D printer filament and 3D printed this small calibration cat.
Obstacle Avoiding Car
The Obstacle Avoiding Car is a robotic vehicle Blake made that uses distance sensing technology to determine if it is too close to a wall or object and turn if it gets to close. Its chassis is 100% 3d-printed and uses the Arduino Microcontroller to computer the information and a motor driver to control the speed and direction of its wheels.
3D Printed Face Shields
Philip 3D printed over 350 face shield clips for doctors and nurses at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and these face shields were distributed through MidSouth Makers.

Ben and Philip practiced building a basic website with HTML and CSS, which you can find here.
Scrolller Clone
Jacob built a Reddit web scraper that mimics the popular Scrolller application, which allows users to scroll through images and videos quickly.
Old Memphis Hack site
Blake and Philip built the old Memphis Hack Club website that was eventually replaced by the second version that you are viewing right now.
